Bobgobble2 Here in Oregon we get three tags at $11.50 each . I was just surprised that Ca didn't have tags .They have a license for everything else . I used to live in Ca ,just didn't retire there .

Season dates here in NY are fine, the breeding season varys due to weather conditions up here. I do wish we could harvest 3 birds during he spring season though. As it is now we can take 2 in the spring, and either 1 or 2 in the fall, depending on which county you live in. I would be willing to give up "MY" fall bird to be able to get another spring bird anyday!!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Our seasons in Ohio aren't bad, but the tag costs are a bit high. You can bag two deer in Ohio at 20 bucks a tag. You can bag a spring gobbler at 20 bucks, and a fall turkey of either sex for a separate 20 doller fee. Spring season lasts a month. fall season last 15 days. I just don't see the justification for the cost of the turkey tags equalling a deer tag, but you know if you were to make that complaint to the wildlife agency, they would raise the cost of the deer tag!

Manybeards,I agree with you to point. An area that has a high population of turkeys in it will not be affected by gobbler harvest,as the next dominant tom fills the roll. But take an area that is not so highly populated with birds it does have definate effect if the birds are hunted hard. When we transplanted birds here in Calif under the guidance of the NWTF we relocated these birds in isolated areas or on private property to avoid being hunted in an effort to give these birds an opportunity to establish stable populations. In doing so the birds disperse from there in the surrounding areas. It was a terrific program that worked until the anti's stopped us from doing it! <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>
