What ever load shoots best out of your gun. Mine favorite load is "12 gauge Win Supreme, HV. 3.5", 2 oz. 5 shot." Fantastic pattern in my gun out to 60 yds.

Here is what Nitros do for me at 40 yards out of my 870 with a Rhino choke. And many people get far better results than this. Hard for a turkeys head to find a place to live in there. 10 inch circle, 40 yards, 238 hits.

I use Federals 12ga 3in 2oz 6 shot. I dont have any complaints.

I've got a 50 yard , 20 gauge and I shoot Hevi 13 #6 testing the high end chokes will change a 30 yard gun easy...
