On the 2nd day of the season this year, Big Buck Brannigan (some of you might remember him) got his first gobbler while we were hunting together. It was a nice one: 19lbs, 10" beard, 3/4" spurs. It had all of the markings and size of a 2 year old bird, but the center tail section was very noticeably longer than the rest--like a jake. The other features convince me it was a 2 year old. Ever seen this before?

Dave, never heard of that. My buddy got one last week here in southern MD and it was only about 17 lbs with a 5" beard and only had nubs for spurs. But it had a full tail fan even all the way across.

That is odd , but I have shot a number of different oddities in Gobblers aswell.
1/ Adult Merriam with 9 in BD and no spurs,
2/ Eastern Jake years ago with 1 tail feather longer then the rest of the full fan
3/ Merriam Jake that was exsactly as number 2
4/ Rio Jake with a Full fan
this is from years ago ,, so ya do find the odd thing...BT
