It's been pretty hard hunting this year in Missouri. High winds and rainstorms made it bad for me. Calling but no response. I did have a few big gobblers around me, but never seen them as I hunt in the timbers and they were in the neighbors fields with hens of course that I just cannot compete with. I did try my crystal pot call on the windy days and was able to get a few hens in but no jakes or gobblers to follow them. I hunt in Gasconade and on opening day that county was 3rd in turkey kills. Last weekend is approaching fast and it's mothers day to boot. I sure hate only hunting till 1:00 but it is the law here in Missouri during the spring season. This friday is my last try for a gobbler until fall and I think I am not going to put out my decoys and not call until they gobble first and even then I am only going to cluck and purr. I was able to get a gobble on a few clucks last saturday with no wind and bright skys. I will just have to see. If a jake comes by I will take him. Good luck on the rest of your season.
