Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Turkeys flying off the roost

I got a question for all you turkey hunting experts. I was reading some stuff about turkey behaviors and i came across this guy saying that turkeys will not fly down toward the sun. Something about not being able to see predators. Ive never heard this and i was just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks for any opinions.

Most turkeys I hunt will be off the roost long before the sun comes up anyway. As soon as it's light enough for them to see the ground good they fly down. If they stay in the tree until sun up its due to bad weather most times. Also if the turkeys are in the woods I would think that would block most sunlight. Only if you hunt a very wide open area and turkeys stay in the tree a long time would this be a problem.

I'm pretty sure they have scanned the surrounding area for anything before they fly down.
