Default How Many Try To Pattern Birds???

Just wondering if I`m the only one out everyday the week before patterning individual birds for opening? I usually try to have 4 birds pinned down for opening but this year there`s so many 2 year olds it looks like the number will be alot higher. Alot of the 2 year olds are running in small gangs of 2 and 3 and should make for alot of fun come Friday.

I usually go every day for the two weeks befor thee opener,to try and find several birds.
although I know where they are anyway,I just like to hear them gobble.
this year,I have not heard them.
my season goes out tomorrow night and I heard my first bird day befor yesterday.

I feel your pain but the birds are gobbling great here. This morning I listened to at least 12 diferent gobblers from one ridge that overlooks a valley about 1 mile long. Hopefully the bird on the left is for my 12 year old nephew

Hey Turk, you' re not alone. I' ve been going out since the first of March for two mornings per week and our season doesn' t open til Monday the 21st of April. I have seen a ton of birds and heard a lot of gobbling. This morning they were really wound up, it was thundering and lightning in the distance. The thunder really set them off! Couldn' t tell you how many individual birds I heard gobbling this morning but it was a bunch! The opener Monday is looking pretty sweet.[:-] Hope to have some good news to report next week.

Tree climber, I know what you mean. I had a year last spring like you are having. I heard the least amount of gobbling that I had ever heard a year ago. I would go for 3-4 days and not hear a gobble. Luckily, it isn' t that way this year though. Don' t know what causes them to clam up but hope it doesn' t happen again!

i work where i hunt, and i' m telling you, the temptation is too strong not to try and pattern them as soon as i see the first turkey or track, i' m on a mission.......[8D]
had this one bird nailed...everyday between 11:00and 1:00 he' d walk the road, well firebreak......wouldnt you know it, the day i hunted it , it didnt show up.....might of had something to do with the bloodhound that tried to play with me and my decoy.........[:' (] damn thing would show up everytime i called....lol......wish she would of shown up before i left, i wanted to take her out of the woods, she was starting to look like infection was setting in , in her eyes......and she was starting to look scrauny, i still foot prints out there though, maybe i' ll find her before it' s too late......she is eitjer from one of the hunt camps or someone tossed her out there....we were too far away though......makes me wonder where she is............
