I'm curious to hear what people think also. To expand on Bryce's questionwhat size pot sounds better, the 2.5", 3", 3.25" or 3.5" and what's the advantage to a double sided pot?????

BCVD 45 how close are you to ava? I just recently came here from TN. BUt in my opinion the call that sounds the best is the one you are most comfortable calling on and the one you have the most confidence in. Try them all and see which call just sounds RIGHT to you. I like glass personally but anodized aluminum like the black magic has great sound and diversity as well. BB

I like Purple Heart Strikers and Canary wood stirkers and then use a Turkey bone striker I made. Purple heart gives me the tone I like the best.
I carry two pot calls one is double sided and both are custom built. The Slate over Glass double side is in a Hard Maple Burl. I like the slate better than the Glass side. But Glass has killed a few and it has given versatility. The second call I use more is a Copper Pot Call in Mahognony I think as is from Priaire Calls. This is my go to pot.

My honest opinion is it all depends on the specs to each pot. I am a custom call maker and there is alot of variables. But in my opinion you can play with different strikers to get the sound you want.

I go with the 3.25" pots, like the sound I get off them the best. I can't say I have a preference on wood really. But I do on the sound board used. I really like a cherry wood sound board, purple heart striker, custom made for me by http://www.gobblestalkercalls.com/"GobbleStalker Calls". I will vary a bit with different strikers to get the different tones. I don't really care for the two piece strikers though. I use this call pretty much 90% of the time with a glass with slate sound board for a back up.
I just find it so much easier when in the field to resurface the slate call, get better sound and able to do more with them.
