I think I found their roosting spot!

Been seeing a couple of nice toms behind my house in the past month. Today I wakeup to a couple inches of fresh snow. Man I' m tired of this NY winter! My son tells me he saw turkeys outback again about 7am. So I thought hey lets go turkey tracking! Off I go on a mission. Talk about a walk. Across 3 creeks, through swamps, up several hills, down into valleys, across old log trails. I thought I' d never find their roost. After all how far could a few turkeys travel from fly down to 7am! Oh plus one track was a tom, wing tip marks in the snow over several parts of the walk. A couple spots where he strutted back & forth. Anyways I believe I finally found it on top of a small hill surrounded on 3 sides by swamp. Hemlocks, and some large beech tree' s on top. I found tracks galore, back & forth. Several other turkeys came from other directions to this same spot. I couldn' t find any fly down marks, but it was so tracked up made it about impossible anyways. After finding it I discovered I' d made a huge loop, probably close to 2 miles. The turks were only about 1/2 mile behind my house, not to far off a log trail! I got back home, and from the time, I' d been walking for nearly 1 1/2hrs tracking these birds. I never thought turkeys traveled so much in that kind of time period. Plus I learned they have no problem crossing creeks, and swamps! I' ll go back to the apparent roosting spot I found before daylight a few times before May 1st. Just to make sure they are using it still, and how traveling once down.

That' s cool. No chance of doing that in south Arkansas.
Sounds like you got it goin' on. Remember, though; Roosted Ain' t Roasted
Good luck. Always good to have a plan.
