Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Unless you have failing eyesight I really don' t see the need for optics. If you know where your pattern shoots then the bead system should be enough to kill a tom out to the " magical" 40 yards. I personally like them to be within the 30 yard range and you surely don' t need optics for this close. Just too much extra to mess with for me.

I am going to try TruGlo' s Magnum Gobble Dot this year. It attaches to the rib via allen screws and has an adjustable rear sight. With these tight patterns I think it is advantageous to have a rear sight for reference. My only concern will be durability. I guess I will find out the answer to that in a month or so.

Lazy,

If you wanted to take a look at one go to www.truglosights.com and look at their firearms sights. Your model for the Remington would be TG944A I believe.

I prefer a scope or red dot on my shotgun, I like having a single aiming point. This year I' m shooting a Burris SpeedDot 135 red dot. With a red dot, the worries about finding a running bird in the scope are gone (even though I really can' t see it being a problem with a 2X scope) because there' s no magnification. And with optics of any kind, the barrel isn' t blocking your vision, so you can watch the turkey' s body language. Good luck.

I' ve had a Leupold Vari-X II 1x4 variable shotgun scope on my 870 for 10 years now and wouldn' t have it any other way. People who say they wouldn' t use or don' t need a scoped gun for turkey hunting apparently haven' t ever tried it. A scope or red dot is the only way to go with today' s tight shooting guns and chokes!

I use a Bushnell Sportview Red dot on my Remington. My problem was that my gun hit high to the right. The scope corrected that problem. I also use my gun for Deer therefore I need to reach further than 40 yards with accuracy. About the battery problems, I carry a spare with my equipment and easily changes.

I also can do what others say is nearly impossible, I shoot target clays with the scope, just took some getting used to .

I just sighted in a Win.1300 with a weaver 4x32 on it I like it.
My 1187 has a pro diamond 4x32 also.this setup has been faithful but a bit heavy.
Also a note with the B-square mounts ,I can still see my truglo Dot under the scope. To me it' s just another tool to help me make a cleaner harvest.not a reason to take longer shots.
GoodLuck.
