I don't know that I notice a big difference in success at any time. I will say I tend to kill henned up birds a lot when they aren't gobbling. It fits my style of patience really well.

naturaley the first of the season when no one has messed with the birds is better.
I have talen birds on the first day and the last day of the season.
I took a bird on the last day of the season a few years ago that gobbles over 100 times.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

Hi BOSS, the best part here would be end of the 2nd week. Seems like they go into a lul after the first day with all the people in the woods callin. This gives them time to calm back down and be more receptive to callin.

GC and Brokenbucket are right on the money here for me.I spend alot of time scouting birds and opening weekend no matter what the conditions proves to be successful. When opening weekend hits i know where the birds are gonna be no matter if they talk alot or our hush mouthed. This gives you an edge on not only the turkeys but also on those opening weekend blundering hunters who treat turkey hunting as if they were on a deer drive!
