I have never used a decoy not even for turkeys. With the bow I Just hunt acorn groves, apple orchards and trails going to feeding areas and bedding areas. With the gun I hunt trails going into thickets stay in stand all day on opening day let the other hunters push the deer to you. I hardly ever have a unused buck tag at the end of the season.

I have never used a deer decoy. I hunt much the same way that Buckslayer1 does.

If I use mine it is usually during the rut or the week before it, whan the bucks are looking for does. If Im rattling in prerut Ill use the antlers on my decoy, if not I use it as a doe.

Never use mine, too many variables to consider.

My buddy & I each purchased a decoy a number of years back & used them under many different circumstances with mostly negative responses from the deer until one day my buddy said he had his out and a doe spooked at the sight of it. He got down and made an adjustment and the next doe he saw came right in and he was able to take her. When I asked him what the adjustment was, he said he took it apart and hid it behind a big rock. I haven't given up completely on decoys, its just that they don't seem to be worth the trouble to haul around and setup.

I've never hunted with a decoy. I have always been afraid of getting shot as I carry it to my stand.LOL

I put my decoy up in the summer in my front yard and I seems to draw in alot of my buddies to drink beer and shoot at it.
