I don' t own the Cody slate but can tell you no slate call will work in the rain. Now the glass, crystal, andozied alumnium, sla-tek, frictionite, etc... will work in the rain with acrylic, glass, carbon, " speciality" strikers such as Woods Wise mystic stick, etc... You need to keep slate dry, of course you can use a bread bag to call in or something to that effect.

To be honest, I was only mildly impressed by the Cody glass call I bought a few years ago. I expected much better craftsmanship for the $ I spent on it and I thought the sound was just " ok" . Maybe the slate calls are better, I don' t know, but thats my opinion anyway. [&:]

THERE ARE A COUPLE OF POINTS THAT NEED TO BE MADE HERE...
1. DO NOT BUY THE CODY ENVY FROM WALMART. IT IS NOT A GREAT SOUNDING CALL.
2. THE CODY II AND THE CODY WOODSMAN ARE GREAT SOUNDING CALLS.
3. A CODY SLATE CALL WILL WORK IN THE RAIN IF YOU USE THE GREEN COLORED ALL WEATHER STRIKER. I KNOW IT WORKS, I HAVE ONE!!!!

LAST, BUT NOT LEAST...
FOR A FEW MORE DOLLARS YOU CAN BUY A WOODHAVEN SLATE CALL. I WAS AT THE NWTF NATIONAL CONVENTION AND TRIED ABOUT EVER CALL THAT WAS THERE. IT WAS NO DOUBT THE BEST SOUNDING CALL THERE. THE SLATE SOUNDED BETTER THAN THE GLASS. BUT THE GLASS IS SWEET ALSO.

Just some friendly advice, don' t get your slate wet. Slate will soak up every bit of moisture you will let it. Once wet, the slate will loose it' s tone. Just my .02.
