Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

To protect the nests. I believe.

That's right. The hens are usually out on their nests in the afternoon, laying eggs. They return to roost near the toms again in the evening. The idea is to reduce disturbing the hens. WI started out that way, but apparently the nest disturbance wasn't really an issue. Because now we can hunt til sundown and we still have plenty of turkeys.

Same here in New Jersey, this law is in place to give the hens time to get on the nest

that defeats the purpose as there are more hens sitting and staying on nests longer later in the season. This is an obsolete law that needs to be changed.

I think I would rather us be able to hunt til' noon if it meant being able to hunt on Sundays..........sure makes for a heck of a short weekend when you have to travel for turkeys here in PA to only get to hunt ONE day and only til NOON on that one day.

now THAT bites.

i like the law.
if i hunted ALL DAY i'd be even moe beat up, pummelled, and run-ragged than i am now. Some times i wish you could only hunt till 9!

Plus, it gives the birds a break, in a way.
