Default Oconee Natl. Forest Ga. question

I will be down in Georgia nest week, and had hoped to hunt the Oconnee Natl. Forest. I have had trouble fdinding much information on line or from the Natl. Forest headquarters. I will be in Eatonton for the first part of the week. I don't want secret spots, but want to know how easy it is to access, how will I be able to avoid tresspassing on private property, bird numbers etc. Any help form board members in the know would be great help.

Default RE: Oconee Natl. Forest Ga. question

Lucky you I live about 10mi from Eatonton. What you are looking for is the Cedar Creek WMA there is a map on the GA DNR site. You have to have a WMA stamp. All you have to do is sign in at the check station (only one time is required) there you can pick up a more detailed map of Cedar Creek ( this actually is part of the Oconee Natl forest)
The check station is off of 212 in Putnam Co. The road that it is on is called check station rd. All that will be on the map at the DNR site.
Now I have only hunted there a few times and it was a few years ago. I can tell you it may be crowed. Basically what I did was drive down the main rd about every mile or so there are gates most will be locked. It is best to park at the gate and walk down the trail and just scout it out, I will say if you find a hot spot you better get there and set up early. If you have any more questions you can pm me, Good luck let me know how it goes.
