Default Mounting turkey fan

Will salt work for preparing a turkey fan and beard? 10 1/2 " beard 3/8" spurs.

I dont use anything on the fan.... I cut em off and trim them up... set em on a piece of cardboard all spread out with pins in it to keep the fan spread.... it will dry out in a while out in the garage..... then its wall time

More tedious process, but wont ever be greasy, smelly, rottin or anything like that. It will be this way for ever. My fan that I just preserved in Borax is starting to stink, and is extremely greasy to touch. But then again, Ive been using it alot for my pretty boy, which will take its toll on fans being out in the elements.
