Mounting turkey fan
Will salt work for preparing a turkey fan and beard? 10 1/2 " beard 3/8" spurs. :)

yes it will, but get as much of the fat off and meat as possable. I like to use mule team 20 borax laundry booster. you can buy it at walmart and one box will the rest of your turkey hunting career :D

I dont use anything on the fan.... I cut em off and trim them up... set em on a piece of cardboard all spread out with pins in it to keep the fan spread.... it will dry out in a while out in the garage..... then its wall time

More tedious process, but wont ever be greasy, smelly, rottin or anything like that. It will be this way for ever. My fan that I just preserved in Borax is starting to stink, and is extremely greasy to touch. But then again, Ive been using it alot for my pretty boy, which will take its toll on fans being out in the elements. |
