River Bottom Turkey Tips
I hunt in the Missouri River bottoms, Iv'e bagged alot of birds and gotten alot of birds for friends and family. If you hunt in the River bottoms post what you do for bagging big birds, here's what i do.
I usually start on the levy, at about 300 yards from where i know the birds roost. i use a crow call just after sun up and locate spacificlly where the toms are at. the i move about 50-75yrds. closer and set up one of my decoy setups. either 2 hens and a jake, a hen and jake, 2 hens, or a lonesome hen. then i do some small cutting and stuff, that leads to a flydown cackle. i then just slightly work the birds some andthen yelp some. but not to much cause i try to be in control, my main idea is to make him want you more than you want him. if you yelp everytime he gobbles, he's in control. if you do this right the bird should be on a b-line to your direction.
