Default Black Hills NF, SD - Places to stay.

We are thinking of just finding a hotel in Custer...but if anybody on here knows of some campgrounds or anything like the further west, that would be great. I am getting pumped, just bought a video with some hunts in the BH NF west of Custer. Me and 2 of my friends are goin out for our first time ever.

What are you looking for in a campground? There would be primitive sites you could camp in. I'm not real familiar with theHills around Custer.

A spot for a tent. Haha. AS long as we could have a fire and tent I think the other two guys would be game.

Might be to cold for a tent. There should be plenty of places to stay. Been there but never stayed at a motel. You will have a good time. I've hunted in Wy around Newcastle several times. Alot of birds in the Black Hills.

A lot of the campgrounds don't really even 'open' in the Hills until May or so... You could probably find one with some searching. I havn't been out in the hills much before May (at least not camping), so I'm not 100% sure...

I've stayed at the Days Inn in Custer before - it was pretty nice... Just did a quick search for mid April and it was like $40 - 50 a night....

Shoot a lot of campgrounds with decent facilities are 15-20 - so it may be worth the extra bucks to know you aren't going to get snowed on...

Good luck!
