I shoot a Mossberg 500, 3" chamber, w/ 28" acc-choke barrel, and Mossberg's xx-full turkey choke. By some standards not exactly a awesome turkey weapon. I've tried many factory loads including various Winchester & Remington turkeys loads. Best I could get out of any these loads was 9-12 pellets in the head at 25yds. Not exactly satisfying to me. I attended a turkey seminar 2 yrs ago, with a quest speaker from the NYS chapter of the NWTF. He intorduced me to Nitro shot, after showing me his target of 50 plus pellets in the head @45yds. I was stunned. So I got ahold of some Nitro shells through the co. They have their own recommendations from tests they have made on various guns, and types of loads. I bought the recommended load, and WOW 35 pellets in the head @40yds!!!!!! With the same exact setup, no other changes then I tried w/previous ammo. Now let me be totally honest here. Nitro is hard to get ahold of. I've never reached this man on the phone. I got in touch with them over the website, and they sent me an order form. Plus the loads are not cheap either. I think I paid $26 for box of 10. Not cheap. Plus if you try, and order a box in April you won't get them by May. Time to order is NOW. They get so back logged with orders they can't get them all out in time for the season if you wait until spring. So all this doesn't make them a easy company to deal with, however their loads are just phenomenal, and I'm very willing to deal with the low points to get their ammo. If want to take look go to www.nitrocompany.com oh they do have a pretty cool website, be sure to turn on your speakers. Website also gives you about all the info you'll need to figure out the best loads for your gun. I hope this helps.
