osceola turkey hunt
I am new to this forum. I am considering the idea of selling osceola turkey hunts this year. For the last 3 years I have shot and guided for an average of 11 birds per season. I only shoot what I call a mature gobbler. That is one with a minimum of 8 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Only the young and inexperienced get anything smaller. Last year the smallest was a 7 inch bird and the largest was an 11 1/2 inch bird by an 11 year old kid. I mostly have taken friends and family, old and young alike. I have become consistent enough to feel confident in providing someone with a very unique experience in the southwest Florida woods. I would like to know if there is any interest in this and if so what hunts have you been on and for how much. I would really like to hear your ideas.

It is good to hear from you. I am really beginning to get a bunch of responses about this idea. I put out a bunch of feelers and it is working so far. I have talked to other guides and friends and have looked at websites and have learned alot. First off, I am not interested in ripping anyone off, but I am interested in making it worth my while but yet a hunt to remember. I would rather build up a small clientele that could be repeat customers through the years. This idea seems to be the best one so far. I work a regular job. I pick up the customers on Friday at the Fort Myers airport. I feed them and house them for 2-3 nights in a local hotel(depending on airplane tickets). I pick them back up Saturday morning and take them hunting all day Saturday. And again on Sunday. They fly back on Sunday night or Monday. The initial guide fee would be $500. Then when a mature gobbler (8" walks within 40 yard range you are handed a bill for $1,000. The second gobbler would cost an additional $500. If one is fine then the remaining time left could be used for fantastic bass fishing, great saltwater fishing, wild hog hunting or scouting for future hunts. You tell me. I feel this is good. It weeds out the amateurs but allows me to make enough money to not want to over book. I believe I can supply 10 birds per season without trying. Therefore I will not book more than 10 hunts. The next time you respond wither use my email address ([email protected]) or call me (863-983-7479) (941-410-8511). Talk to you then.

>>>> So,sounds like you are asking $1,500 for a 2 day guided hunting with meals and lodging included. What about a semi-guided hunt.... What would the fee be if a guy did not need food or lodging and prefered to hunt on his own? Most guys on here are seasoned hunters and do not need a guide.

RE: osceola turkey hunt
I don't believe I am really interested in semi-guided or non-guided hunts. I feel confident enough to offer the birds, not the hunt. I know the land I hunt, I know the birds. I don't care how good of a turkey hunter, deer hunter or whatever kind of hunter you may be; to go to somewhere else where you don't know the land or the habits of the local wildlife and be successful in a short period of time is pure luck. I am not doing this for the practice nor am I doing this to take advantage of anyone. I am doing this to provide a few with an opportunity at taking an osceola turkey and making a reasonable commission in return. I am 29 years old and took my first gobbler when I was 11 years old and have taken or guided for over 100 longbeards since then. But I am open for ideas. Thats why I have this on this site, to get ideas. Thanks.

I suppose you'll probably sell a hunt or two,but not to me. I'm suprised you don't have a major headache as hard as you've been blowing your own horn. Sounds like you think you're the only turkey hunter in the world. Wish you luck..... You're gonna need it!
