Default Hens

I took my first hen ever this year. In Texas they have made it legal to shoot hens in the fall.

Well at first I felt kinda bad about shooting a hen for some reason. Maybe it's because it has always been illegal. Well after eating the hen I don't feel bad anymore. As a matter of fact, I'm not too sure that I won't prefer shooting hens to shooting toms!

Is it legal to shoot hens in your state?

GOOD EATIN!!!!

Wisconsin - Spring is a Bearded bird only and yes do have beards I did shoot one but it was in Michigan who has the same law.

Fall in Wisconsin is either sex.

In Missouri it is bearded only in the spring and either sex in the fall. Last spring I also shot my 1st hen in Nebraska (The Bearded Lady). She got breaded and deep fried and gobbled up. We thought she tasted foul..[8D]

Hens are legal in the Fall in NY...Bearded hens are legal in the spring...They are tasty little devils and tastier yet when you realize she is one less that you have to contend with in the spring.
