I use the NAP gobbler getter heads. NAP had them advertised a couple yrs back then they seemed to backoff, and haven't seen them in a catalog since. But I contacted NAP last spring, and they were still available. They are basically a spitfire mechanical, with larger blades, and a blunt tip. They are designed to slow penetration, and to hopefully keep the arrow in the bird to prevent fly away. I also drop my bow down in lbs to help with non pass through.

pepperboy, good luck with the bow.
have you got a ground blind? a blind is almost a must when
turkey huntin with a bow. or they sure help out anyway.
decoys are also essential.
I took a jake with a muzzy 100 gr 1 1/8th" cut.
I'm goin to a 3 blade, 100 gr with a 1 1/2" cut for turkey this spring. my turkey bow is a golden eagle splitfire 36 set on 65 lbs
and I'm shootin beman ICS 400'rds 28 1/2" long. with my 8" braceheight I'm only shootin 245 fps, which puts my kenetic energy at about 49 ft lbs. I think that will work great, and with that big of a cut on my broadhead, I don't think I'll have to worry about a pass through. that's what I'm hopin far anyway.

I really think mechanicals with at least a 1 1/2" cut 2" even better
would be the way to go on turkeys.

anyway, good luck, and i hope you get to stick one. there's nothin
like it!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I have switched to the mechanicals a couple of years ago, and they work wonderfully on deer!! The Brand of choice for me is the Rocket line!! I would suggest their 100 gr Hammerhead, it has a huge 2&quot; cut and they fly like darts!! Accuracy is the name of the game, and this is where the mechanical heads do shine!! Good luck!!

I would go with the mechanical for turkey hunting because of the large cutting diameter.. I would also recomend a string tracker!!!!

I posted a similar question on a crossbow hunting forum. I got a good response and I'll pass on the info. quoted below.

&quot;Rambler I hunt turkeys with my bow. My dad does as well, his bow is the Exomag. We both shoot the spitfire mechanical with Zwickey Scorpio which is an arrow arrester.

You do not need to do any fixing or tinkering with the hunting heads. These arrow arresters fit over the arrow shaft by springs and has 4 wire Prods that fit behind the hunting head. With all my testing, it did not effect the arrow flight path. When the Prods come in contact with the animal or bird, they bend backwards applying pressure to the arrow shaft.

Now I have never had a pass through, even on my targets which normally if not doubbled do, I have had the arrow arresters come onto the fletching. The fletching usually stops the arrow. Last year we shot at 3 turkeys and all 3 were quick kills and no pass throughs. When the arrow stays in the body, they have trouble running or flying. Below I will give a link to a picture from a store site that shows what it is.
http://www.jakesarchery.com/product....10&pf_id=60S20

Worse case senerio with these arresters is that they will ruin the fletching, but I use feathers and have only ruined one set, my dad has not ruined any and he uses feathers as well. Veins probually will stand up better. Just remember to not pull the arrester against the grain of the feather.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.&quot;

I agree with buckalley. While I am not a fan of mechanicals for deer, I do believe they are the way to go on turkeys, where we are not as concerned about penetration and actually want to minimize it in most cases. The mechanicals he is referring to from NAP are called &quot;Gobbler Stoppers&quot; and come in both 100 and 125 grain sizes. The blunt end gives more shock on impact and work much better than regular mechanicals or fixed heads when hunting turkey.
I was lucky enough to get my first turkey with one last year and it performed nicely, knocking the turkey down in its tracks with a short expiration thereafter.
