Default Friction Calls ?

I was just wondering how many uses friction the most, and what do you like in a Pot Call. Slate, Alum,or Glass?
Do you have a favorite striker that works well with that call ?

I have came fawned of the (Triple Threat) from QuakerBoy with a Cedar striker. I seem to like the tone that I get from the smaller Pc's in it. Aluminum seems to be my favorite...BT

I love my friction calls i dont think i have ever went hunting and not used them. My favorite one is hard to say but i would have to go with my Double trouble from Bloddget... I like a slate becuase it makes soft clucks and purrs..

thats all i use..that and a box call but most of the time i have my ol yeller by knight and hale in my hand..i guess you can call it a slate but its actually frictionite...i think its like a ceramic or something im not sure..but it sounds good..and i have a cody glass that im still learning and breaking in..i bought it for like 12$ after the season last year and havent played with it much..as for strickers i dont really like the ones that come with them so i make my own with a pocket knife..time consuming but it gives me something to do while im fishing and sitting around in the spring and summer...so far the favorite one i made is a black walnut stricker with a corncob back...looks good and sounds good...im still experimenting with diffrent woods though...

Same with me i have a few friction calls in my vest all the time. The ones that i use and like is the Sla-tek by K&H and the sidwinder by Quaker Boy. on the sla-tek their black striker works great and on the sidwinder their oak striker gives out nice deep sounds that made me get a bird to respond back.

Friction calls are fantastic. They are my favorite call for everything, hunting, contest calling, looking at . My favorite surface is slate because I just think they sound the best. I like glass too, and I carry a M.A.D Aluminator for striking birds. Custom calls are where it's at. My favorite call of all that I've got is the Tough Country by Blodgett Calls in New York. The call is larger than most, fits my hand nicely, and is just plain pretty. It's louder than any slate I've ran. For strikers I prefer the laminated maple striker made by Blodgett, and the laminated sticks from Ted Peters. Here soon I'd like to get a glass call from either Jerry &quot;Dad&quot; White or Vaughn's. Along with some more strikers.

BT, like you and the others, I use this type of call all the time. That Sla-tek call and glass calls I like best. H.S.Strut has there &quot;double-slate over glass&quot; call which sounds very good too using their plexi-glass striker. I had to stop buying these calls, my vest is getting to heavy as it is!!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Raven, check in &quot;Midwest Turkey Call Supply&quot;, this is one of the best catalogs out there loaded with nothing but turkey hunting related stuff!! Go to www.midwestturkeycall.com for there number or ask for acatalog.
