I just picked up a 535 w/ thumbhole stock and I can't wait to pattern it this weekend. I would probably choose the non-thumbhole if you plan on duck hunting with this gun. Just my 2 cents.....

I owned two mossbergs. I didn't like either. I did like the placment of the safety. My buddy owned a moss turkey gun, not sure which model, but I think it was an auto. He sold it about a month after he owned it.

I asked what he wanted for it and he said "Don't worry about it, I wouldn't sell it to a friend".

I'm sure that they make good guns, but the ones I had just weren't right for me. I'd recomend shooting a bunch and picking out what you like best. If it is one that costs more, save and wait. If after shooting the others you decide you like it best, buy it and be happy it didn't cost as much as some of the others.

Good luck,

KP

I do indeed own this gun with the thumbhole stock.... I love it. At 50 yards I put 97 pellets in a 10" circle with 24 in the neck and head. I am shooting the stock choke with Winchester Double X Magnum Loads- 3", 2 oz. # 4's. I am working on posting a pic........

I know 3 people who have mossbergs... 1 500 and the other 2 were 835's... All three didn't patteren anywere close to my 2 870's or my 11-87 or my poor mans turkey gun(NEF 10ga turkey)I'd say buy a 870 express and put a turkey choke in it. Or just spend the extra money and buy your self a super mag... You wont be sorry

There you go again Mr. Longbeard!! I am NOT a turkey gun expert but, I was a weapons specialist in Desert Storm........ We used the Mossberg 500 as a scatter gun. The USA might have something here. You don't need to spend $1,000 to kill a turkey. I assure you the 535 will get the job done out to 50 yards and maybe beyond. Remington is well respected and an established gun manufacturer but, not everyone likes them. Personally, I do not know. I had a 870 15 years ago and loved it just the same, it was mine, it was my right and I carried it with pride. We all, will never have the same exact opinions on everything but, we can all have PRIDE in the firearms we choose.Remington, Mossberg, Binelli etc. etc.

Hunting is an American Tradition done with every kind of firearm ever manufactured. I have had H & R's, Remingtons, Mossbergs, Colts and probably a few most have never heard of.

This post was started on WHO owns one or WHO has shot one, not WHO doesn't like it or WHO thinks they should buy a different gun......

THE 535 WILL INDEED DO YOU GREAT AND BE PROUD TO OWN ONE!!!!!

I saw them the other day and I surethought that was a nice price on that rig BullRider.
I still shoot an 835 that I've owned for 12-13 years.I use it for turkeys only and it has given me no problems over the years. It took time to get it to pattern as most all of the choke tubes were to tight back then. With all the new loads and chokes out there these day if you can't get a good pattern you just don't know what you are doing!Every gun is different some guns take longer to find that como.
I'm more of a Browning man but couldn't get 31/2 chamber on one back in those days other than a ten ga.
Only Remingtonthat has ever been in the house was one my oldest son bought and payed for.He wanted to up-grade from a Browning Game Gun pump to an 870 trap gun.He put several thousand rounds though the Browning and made the switch.A couple mounths later he found a crack in the reciever.I told him to get with Remington and see what they would have to say about it.They told him it they didn't know how to fix it and they didn't even make that reciever anymore. Then they hung up on a 17 year old kid first time owner!
I asked around at the state trap shoot and found out it was a common happening on that gun and how to machine it to stop the crack. It's a good gun that had one weak spot to it, but Remington put thier head in the sand on it.My son is still puting round after round through it after the rework that Remington Should Have done.[:@]

Hell I was just trying to help the guy not make the same mistake my 3 friends did... If he really has his heart set on a mossberg then spend away... None of my 870 cost 1000.00... My 870 SPT only cost 430.00...

Buy the way I was a armorer in the USMC for 7 years. And all our shot guns were 870... You must of been in the air force huh??

Hey do they still have mades come in and make your beds for ya???

No I was not in the Air Force. USNST 2 out of Little Creek, Va. I was not aSEAL personally but, did maintenance all their weapons while we were abroad. Spent 15 months in the sand and another 6 months evacuating refugees out of Africa. 50 cal., M-60, 25 MM. .45. M-14 (by choice) and then there were the 500 scatter guns.

I was having a moment Mr. Longbeard, wasn't attacking you or anyone in general.

You ever get frustrated when you can't buy everything and try it all for yourself? LOL. This is the only true way to know what is best for you as an individual. What's the MEGA Millions up to?
