Nothing wrong with killing a jake every now and then. I killed a 14 pounder in Tenn. on my last day thereand he sure tastes good. Great way to break the ice.

Congrats on the jake and good luck in CT. We get underway here in PA on Saturday and I'll be taking my daughter for her first time. I'm hoping for a good morning.

Congrats!! I took my 11 yr old daughter out for the PA opener yesterday and she scored on a nice double-bearded jake. Now I'll hit the woods this week to see what I can do. I'll get your score added to our post over the weekend here somtime.

I shot a really nice eastern bird on friday!! He came in silent with a hen. Never gobbled once, but he sure did spit and drum a lot. My father has the pics on his camera so I'll send them when i get a chance. His stats are 24.8 lbs, 9" and 8" beards, 1" and 7/8" spurs. This is the second double beard bird I have shot in threeyears on my parents farm.

NY opener was today, a lot of hunters, not a lot of turkeys, but things will loosen up soon once the other hunters are out of the woods and hopefully i'll get some action!
