Way to go for all those that have scored already. You guys put some big birds down this season! I just got thru treating my camo with tick spray and gearing up forthe RIopener this Thursday, I can't wait! I know there are some birds around but Next week's opener in CT is where I thinkI have my best chance to score one for the team. hey you guys are really smashing some birds good job! i shot my second bird yesterday about 9 am me and my buddie hit a new spot and did not here a gobble, so he went to work and i went to another spot. i called about 10 min. on an off. one gobbled and within 20 min BOOM!! he was 24.3 lbs 9.25 inch beard r.spur 1" l.spur 1.125" now im done, that sucks.

Nice birds guys. I will be hunting this friday and weekend in Iowa again. Hopefully more hens are starting to nest because there are tons of them. I head to Wisconsin on Wednesday. Good luck to everyone and keep dropping those birds.

Well, it lookslike I'm all done down here in Alabama. Didn't live up to my own expectations and I'm upset with myself that I didn't take more shots, but I got two pretty nice ones for us. I went this morning and there is NO sign of any hot gobblers anywhere. No gobbling AT ALL, no strutting, no sight of any toms. Chased two hens around just for the thrill of it, but I think the season's pretty much over down here for me. I might give it one last ditch effort Monday since it's the last day of the season, who knows, I might luck up. Congrats to everybody who got some birds so far, and good luck to everybody elsethat'sstill chasin birds. Now it's time to hook the plow up and bust up the ground. Good luck fellas!

Congrats to those who have harvested a bird and to those who gave it their best. I'm called in 4 birds thus far but only with the camera in hand. My first hunt starts next week and WI and then the following week back in MN. Can't wait...

Well boys, my opener was this morning. The birds were hot off the roost, but went cold shortly after fly down. We got close to one bird, set up in the general direction we heard a gobble off in the distance, and to our suprise, we had a thunderous response no more than 30-40 yards away, but on the other side of some very thick brush. I worked him for maybe 20-25 minutes, but he wasn't cooperating. He slipped around some more thick stuff off to our right. Never saw him, but I'm betting he's a good one. This was basically right behind my hunting buddy's back yard. He might be in for a good season in RI, but mine is over. We took a bit of a walk and decided to do some blind calling in an area where they have been feeding, and I pulled a lil jake in on a string. He was heading right for my dekes, and I let him have a load of #5's. I only took him because here in RI, I find that when I pass up a bird, that might be the only shot I have for the season, so I wanted to break the ice. He came in on my side, my buddy heard him but didn's see him, so BAM! He looked much bigger in strut than his stats show, lol. 14.5 pounds, 4.25 inch beard, and 1/8 inch nubs for spurs on both legs for a whopping 25.5 points. The CT opener is next Wednesday, and I have 3 tags, so I guess I'll go to work tomorrow and hit it again next week to try and get us some more points next week. I tell ya, this never gets old and I don't care how big the bird is, when they come in gobbling and strutting it is just plain AWESOME!
