season finally opened today. I had a close encounter this morning, but he never offered a clear shot. so i did some trimming around my blind when i left so hopefully it wont be a problem next time.

I'm heading out in the morning. I'm calling for a friend who has never killed one with a bow, but if he can't kill him, I'll shoot use my shotgun. I've deer hunted this land, but never turkey hunted it. Our season closes Monday. Monday will probably be my last hunt.

Please add my score to the list. My bird was a young one but still was a exciting hunt. My wife took the day off from work so she could tag along with me. This is the second year she has done this. We always have a great time running and gunning looking for birds. She had asked that if I should have a chance at sooting a bird while she was along, would I? I said sure. We had activity from first lightup until 10:00. Things slowed down until noon when my wife was sitting there playing with the box call. All the sudden we hear a gobble not to far away. We get ready but the bird is heading out across the feild and paying us no attention. We hear other gobbles but get nothing to come our way except for a hen that walked by at 10 yards. She asked if we could try one more spot before she had to go back home. We put out a jake and hen decoy at 1:00in the corner of a field and sat back and did some calling. We pulled in a jake and 2 hens from 300 yards across the field running full out. She was excited to say the least. My son has my camera while he is huntingso a picture will come later.

Good work littleharry, every point counts, we don't need the biggest birds, we need the most to win this thing.

My time is finally here, season opened yesterday and I have tomorrow and monday off work, all my stuff is beside the front door and I'm trying to decide if I should hit the road tonight after traffic or at 4:30 am. Either way I'll be out there, thunderstorms or not (thats what my blind is for). A good friend is coming with me, I've deer hunted his land for years and am just getting him into turkeys so I'll give him the 1st opportunity, but he'll only be up fri-sat so I may score this weekend too. Fri-sat I'll have the Mossberg, sunday is bow only, then the scatter gun again monday if need be. I used to take the 1st legal bird, but after tagging out with two toms last year I'm gonna hold off (at least the 1st 1/2 of the season) for a tom.

Wish me luck, I'll update monday or tuesday.

Congrats littleharry! My wife went turkey hunting with me once, and that was it. Not sure if it was the early mornings, the long walks, the ticks, or the rain, but she didn't seem to have enough fun to go with me again!.

way to go Littleharry I will be leaving Tues. for another 5 day hunt in Idaho hopefuuly filling my last tag
