Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default SP-10 w/ thumbhole stock

I just got off the remington website and boy am I excited. I just saw that they came out with a camo SP-10 w/ and thumbhole stock and fiberoptic sights for turkeys. It also comes w/ a 23'' barrel. I've been wanting to get a sp-10 for quite sometime now and now may finally be the time.. I was wondering if anyone else has heard anything about this new style good or bad and what everyone elses thoughts are? I would advise everyone to check it out it is a real sweet looking gun!!!

I carryed one for about 4 years back in the mid-90's. It was definitely a turkey killing machine. Only thing that made me get rid of it wasit weighs 11 pounds. You put4 of those big 3 1/2" candle sticks in there and your up to nearly 12 pounds. If I hunted on flat ground I'd probably still have it but it was rough to carry up and down these mountains.

I have a Remingont SPS-T 12 guage with tumbhole and I love it. It is a very comfortable gun to hold. I was getting decent patterning with this gun out to 50 yards with 3.5" #5 Federals.

You'll be very very hard pressed to find a 12 gauge that will out shoot a 10ga for turkey's. The 10s don't kick as bad either with all that weight easing the whallop. But, like the others said, that weight is a real burden when you run and gun. If you like to ambush hunt, and have a comfortable gun rest for you knee, then there is no finer gun for gobblers than a 10.
