Im starting to get really sick of this...
i just got back from a weekend of hunting on state land on in cortland county, ny. the first day we didnt hear a thing, nor did we see anything. not even a track, feather, dropping, nothing. so we tried the next state land parcel over. we saw a couple of jakes there last night so this morning we headed over to the same spot. one was gobbling early in the morning, but they quickly shutup. we never heard from them again. a couple of hours later we saw a pair of jakes on private land. we were set up right on the border and they def saw our dekes, but they wouldnt come in. this whole state land thing is really discouraging. there is not alot of turkey sign, not to mention almost zero turkeys talking. we still have some weeks left in they season and we dont want to give up, but we really feel like we're wasting our time on this state land. we don't live upstate and we don't know anyone who does, so we don't have access to private land. i just wanted to throw this post up there to vent a little bit and see if anyone of you guys have any advice or suggestions, or even just words of encouragement. thanks for the help guys!
