..This morning i woke up and figured if i had a shot at a turkey, it would be one that my hunting partner called in for me....i was sort of right....We sat near the roosting area and called for about an hour....nothing...so we started to head out for coffee. We snuck out really easy and dave stops crouches and starts calling again. i didnt have a clue what he was doing. anyways we start to get back up and not more than 20 yards away are two jakes...he turns and shoots and they both take off on the run...we chase them and out of the corner of my eye i see a jake running down the edge of the woods....i swing on him and shoot...he did a cartwheel and then i hear another boom and dave shoots the other jake. What a way to get ur first bird...it was really exciting, never thought id get one on the run. My tukey was about 17 pounds and had a 4 inch beard...it had only nubs for spurs..I dont care though, i have another tag and plan to hold out for a big one.Might even use the bow.But we were back at the diner by 7 and had two turkeys...What a great day...I'll be posting pics once i get them developed and scanned..
