Outlawing Hevi-shot??

That sounds rediculous. Why would they ban a non-toxic load? Remington will no longer make hevi shot. Maybe this is what he is talking about. I bought the store out this year of Rem. hevi shot 3.5 inch magnums knowing that they would never carry them again. I would think they would ban lead before hevi shot, unless there is something we don't know about it. Anyway, I'm shooting Rem. hevi shot for a while. I've got four boxes of it. I love it. It will put them down for the count at any range.

the would be pretty rediculous...though i must say its very odd....i cant find it or any type of high density shot at any store this season...i wanted to try the new winchester and federal loads.....the rems shoot great.......Dicks sporting goods had some pre season......i know they are not making it anymore...should of took stock myself but i didnt have the cash then...if its still there now i will......BUT they are making their own version i believe.....i dont know that they have the turkey loads out but they have a waterfowl version out already or something i forget....the owner of hevishot just took it from remington....just how they gave them the rights to sell it......the orignals are still being sold under a diffrent name.........i read all this here.....thats why i dont know the details lol......someone else will know more...hopefully......i think that stuff is great......patterns better in most cases....hits harder...both leading to more efficient kills.....and its non toxic......so its safe for the enviroment....why wouldnt they want us shooting that stuff!?!?

Environ-metal made Hevi under the Rem banner. Now they arejust making it under thier own name.
Supply and Demand. Doesn't matter how much the core ingredients cost. If they price it accordingly and we all still buy it then it ain't going anywhere.

Remington had a 5 year exclusive on Hevi-Shot. They (Rem) paid Environmetal (the inventors and patten holder) for that exclusive and it expired lastyear. That is the reason Rem is no longer offering it. The material itself is still the best stuff out there (as far as non-toxic goes) but the Rem HS loads themselves are outdated (yet still superior too lead loads). The new Winchester Extended loads will out pattern the old Rem HS and Feds new Heavyweight is as good as the old Rem HS.
When I toured "Nitro Ray"s place a couple years ago he got his HeviShot from Remington because of that exclusive that I spoke of. But now he gets it direct from Environmetal and I have been told that the raw shot itself will have another 20% price increase by next season. What Ray loads and what Rem loaded are two entirely different things, but they both are superior too any lead out there. You simply can't drive a heavier, better patterning material faster and NOT expect it to out perform lead.
Just like anything else, technology eventually catches up and surpasses "old tried and true" and we are now seeing this situation with regards too turkey loads and performance. I predict that within 10 years NO ONE will be shooting lead anymore, not because of govt regulation but because of increased performance!!!

Slowly we are seeing this happen with waterfowl shot as well (thank GOD!
) as I personally think steelshot was a MISERABLE substitute for lead. "Trail blazers" like HeviSteel and other affordable non-toxic shot offerings are likewise going to replace the game maiming, miserable performance of steel shot...
