Pretty Boy Decoy
#1
Have any of you guys used or had any luck with the Pretty Boy decoys?

They retail for around $100 - which is obscene for a piece of injection-molded plastic. Anyway, I had some giftcards to cash in, so I kicked the few extra bucks and bought the set because I'm totally and inexcusably stupid.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone tried 'em yet.
Mine will make its maiden voyage tomorrow. Should I put the tom on top of the hen, or just a couple yards apart? I've never used a breeding pair, so I have no idea - and obviously, you can't go by the video b/c those turkeys on the instructional tapeare either tame or stupid.
Input/feedback requested.

You could have saved ~$75 and got the Buckwing bob-n head breeding pair from Midwest for ~$25. Not to rub it in or anything, just letting you know if you think about returning them before tomorrow...haha.
Put them about a foot apart, with the tom approaching the "presenting hen" from behind. I would place the pretty boy so he is facing you, which should bring any tom's in from the side for a showdown...good luck.

Okay, the Pretty Boy was officially "in use" for about 10 minutes before he helped lure in 4 longbeards, two of which went down. The Pretty Boy didn't escape unscathed, however, as he took a half-pattern of #5's right in the tailfan. Oops.
My partner and I had a very exciting hunt, and executed a textbook double. The Pretty Boy performed amicably, and the toms were clearly intrigued by its presence, and quickly came over for a closer look. We took the shot just as the dominant bird appeared to be getting ready to attack the decoy.
Very exciting hunt, and a good product. I'd recommend it to those on the fence. It looks very realistic afield.
The drawbacks - noise & bulk. This thing is noisy to lug around the woods, and it's bulky. Those are the only complaints. Definitely not a good piece of equipment for running and gunning - best when used from a stationary calling position with high visibility.
Maybe the turkeys in the video weren't tame or stupid... ??

I made my own and posted pics of it a few pages back.......you might wnat to go look at it.....so far I have had mixed results - one dominant bird right in - one not so dominant that took a lot of coaxing but I had his hen and 2 jakes captive not more than 6 yards from where I sat!
