Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default scouting ?...

hello,

when scouting for turkeys, say i start scouting this weekend and the season opens on the 18th, if i scout for the next two weekends, and lets say that i do locate a gobbler or so, what is the chance that they/it will still be there when opening day comes. do they always roost in same tress and walk the same area? i just dont want to scout and then a week later come and they have moved on...also....is the best way to scout to simply drive around in a car and blow a crow or owl call every few hundred yards? it doesnt seem like that will get them to gobble so i can locate them? this is only my 2nd year of turkey hunting so bare with me alittle, lol, thanks alot.

My favorite way to scout is just to drive around and watch. They are other ways. You can walk in and use your locator calls and such, but I find you have a good chance at spooking them this way. If you find out where they are hanging out these next two weekends, there is a good chance they will be in that area come the opener. Where I hunt however, most of the turkeys dont roost in the same place everynight. You just gotta put them to bed or show up in the morning and listen for them to gobble on the roost. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
