Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Locator calls

what is your favorite locator call? im curious to see what you think works best. I have used the Primos peacock and the hammerin' crow call. its wierd, even though im in new york, the turkeys actually respond more towards the peacock than the crow, however i haven't taken a bird yet, though this will only be my second year.

My favorite is the owl hoot. Seems to work when nothing else will for me. Thats why it is a good idea to have a few locator calls. Sometimes the hoot won't work but the crow call will.

I prefer the own hooter too. I don't have a peacock call, but I believe anything at times can get a turkey to gobble. I let my truck door slam on accident one time (parked on a slope) and heard a turkey gobble to it.

I don't get many responses to the crow call where I'm at. I've heard people use coyote howlers too...I actually bought one one year to use as a locator but couldn't get up enough nerve...I don't know why using a predator of turkeys to locate em, would actually help anything.

In florida the coyote howler works fairly well it will get them to gobble when nothing elsewill.
But I don't have the slightest idea why.
In the right location Owl, Crow and many others work well.
