RE: Team #3's Official Roost

According to my unofficial count we have 11 guys that have not scored on a tom. Obviously some of those fellas are done due to their season being over. I am wondering how many guys we have left that are hunting out there?

jrbsr
ryan08rb
bushmaster 5bko
Rick James
Reerdonkey
deer slayer Jr.
Box Call
hawglips
RDHunter
mibowhuntr
Q2INWHITETAILS

How many of you guys do we have left that can help to put us over the top? If we get two more decent birds we are going to be close to being in the top spot at this juncture!!! :)I think it will take more than that to win but hey, stranger things have happened...

I know that it really doesn't matter, but I'm going to western New York memorial day weekend to try for number 8 on the year. I've killed some dandies, and don't think I'll get a score higher than the one I killed in Georgia and Kentucky. Who knows...I might kill a monster and help raise the score a little. I wish I could count all7 turkeys I killed this year. Maybe I could lend them to the others above (j/K), but it was worth a try. Take care and great job team for asought out successful season! GOD bless!

I tried and tried.
But the public land I was hunting was so crowded
The turkeys were allways pressured or just gone.
I need and will try to find some private land by next year.
The only thing is it costs so much to lease land
And all the land is tied up.

I got close real close
I did score on a ton of ticks [:@] 14 in all [:-]
If I could afford it I would drive to another state
But you know how that is ;)
Well maybe next year.

For the ones that still have a open season

I Wish You Good Luck

One of my best buds owns about 130 acres near Oneonta, NY which is southcentral NY. I also own about 100 acres just about 2 hours southwest in PA, so we usually hunt Saturdays at my place in PA, then go up to his place in NY on Sundays. There are lots of birds, thats for sure. I should have had one on the ground by now, I was supposed to have a 4 day hunt last week but I wrecked my car and am just getting settled after that mess. Hopefully I can put some points on the board for the team this weekend, last time I was out there early season I managed to tie into two pretty hot ones but they henned up on me shortly after hitting the ground and moved onto posted ground.

Ienterd my West Virginia bird I bagged on 5/13/06
21# with a 11 inch beard spurs 1 3/4 inchand 1 5/8 inch.
21 + 17.5 + 16.5 + 22 = 76.75 total for team 3.
This is bigger than my PA. bird I enterd and bigger than my 2 ohio birds I didn't enter.

I just did the averages for all teams with a score and we're on TOP. I know it doesn't count, but for the total and the amount of people that killed birds this season we would definitely win. All we need is for two or three more people for our team to kill a turkey. If this were to happen we would surely win. I hope everyone had the best season ever and GO TEAM THREE! GOD bless!

Man sometimes it is painful to hear that alarm during turkey season [:@]. Anyhow, I am up and about to head out the door here in PA. Wish me luck, looks like the rain is going to hold out for me.

Seemed like the perfect morning to hear birds......but not a single one gobbled. All I saw was someone elses footprints on my posted property and all I heard was someone owl hooting on my property line...........[:@]. Let me tell you, I am awfully frustrated, after spending so much money in food plots, and taxes, and building blinds and stands and scouting this property etc to find someone else is trespassing like that. It is difficult to patrol the property when you live 4 hours away I guess and the locals know it.

I am off in about an hour to head up to Oneonta, NY hopefully some pieces of the puzzle will come together up there.

RJ, that sux, the first thing I would have done was approached the trespasser.

Should have kept your date with me...I called in and had downed another one for the year. I've had gobblers under 75 yards every day of the season except maybe 3...some won't committ the last 25 yards or so....no I'm not rubbing it in, maybe you need some River Valley sweet talk. ;)

Hang in there and keep your chin up. It's about the hunt.....good luck.

Yeah I know.......haha...hind sight is always 20/20 though. After such an awesome season last year (worked 5 birds into closer than 100 yards and called in 2 for pops and I in 2 days of hunting on my place) and all the digital pics I have gotten I thought this year was going to be great. Unfortunately word got out of my success last year and the neighbors had to come see what we had cooking on our place I guess. I did try to find who was on our place, however by time I got down there they seemed to be gone. I think I know who it is and will be focusing on trying to make it obvious that we are in there on a consistent basis. They only come into the side of the property furthest from my Dad's house because they know no one goes in there except for me and that I don't live in the area. Our taxidermist lives right near there and I have some horns to drop off for him next weekend so hopefully he can let me know who is going in there and spread the word for me and watch it a bit. Might have to give him permission in trade for being my eyes and ears. I will still have to have you come up for a hike this summer sometime to check it out, should be some good bowhunting this year and I would love to have you come up if you have time.

When is the contest officially over?? Also, how many team members do we have that havent tagged out and are still hunting? It does look like if we could get two or three more birds we would win this thing.

Well, I'm hunting this weekend in New York, but I've already killed 7 birds this season. If any of team three members are left and haven't killed a bird please post so we can figure out what we've got left. If you haven't killed a bird please let team know if you're still hunting. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed memorial day weekend.

I've got 5 days to keep matching wits with a wary old swamp gobbler. When I bag him, he will probably score ~65, which will raise my bird about 5 points.

I don't think it really matters much, unless we get a 3-4 guys to score in the next 10 days. Of course (and this is where Pat needs to listen), if the non-typical birds are not counted, we may win in a landslide...;)

deeg1502 05-22-2006 07:40 PM

RE: Team #3's Official Roost

All we need is for 2 more guys to kill a bird a piece with a score of 50 points (at least) to pull out on top.

The good news for us is that in team one's score of 693.725 bghunter00's 62.5 bird is already included. If someone else on that team has scored since bghunter00 posted his score then that would have to be added in and they would indeed have a higher score than what is posted.

RE: Team #3's Official Roost

Team 3, I killed another longbeard. This time it was in New York. The hunt was one of the hardest yet to date! I was in Limestone, NY, hunting the Allegany State forest, Rock city state land, and the Nine mile state land. All of which, are within 25 minutes driving time. If anyone is ever thinking of hunting in this area I found some great spots to try. Now that my season is over, I've killed 9 toms in 6 different states. Next year I'm heading out west, but will start my season off in Florida. If anyone from the team wants to tag along next year, let me know and I'll call and film the hunt. I really had a blast with you guys this year and hopefully we can keep the same team for next year! Now that turkey season is over I can spend time with my wife, daughter and hit the fairways for a little golf (my other love)! Take care friends and let's try to stay in touch. GOD bless!

David Ellis
