bowhunter, sounds like a good turkey getter to me. How do you like that DB blind. I just got one a month or so ago.

salt, I get mine from my local pro shop. I don't have an arrow saw, so I get raw shafts, he cuts them and I take them home and build them. There are places you can get them from, like eders and such, but I figure they are expensive enough without having to pay shipping. Looks like a good pattern to me.

oneshot, your Muzzy will do the trick. No worries about that. I shoot a big 2" Rocket Hammerhead. More damage the better with them small vitals.

Even though I stictly bowhunt, I went to BassPro and got a new shotgun today. My son will be using it for turkey and I will use it mostly for dove and such. It's a Stoeger P-350 12 ga. I like it well so far.

I love the DBB it is great used it last year for turkey and had them sitting in my lap. and as for the arrows I make my own as well I set up up a dremel tool used it to cut off and put taper on my shafts.
last year I took my time to hunt turks being retired I have plenty of time to hunt so why end it on the first day ecspecially when I have two hundred turkies roosting near my deer hunting place it was great hunting deer out of the double bull as well. I dont think I will go back to tree stands ( I have a climber I might be selling here soon if the boy does not want it). I had a freind at the machine shop make up some addapters for for my shafts going to try to get Guillotine broadhead on the second bird. here are some of the turkes around my feeder.

Dev, you are correct. You don't have to use the first bird, but check it in anyway. Pat keeps good records of that and he will use the biggest bird you post.

Bowhunter, um........can I go turkey hunting with you this spring? You got a few birds around.........apparently. :D

john, I know....these guys are INSANE!! I am here everyday, sometimes twice a day, and I can barely keep up. Like I said last week, I don't know if we'll win or not, but we are certainly going to have some fun! Hey, you just get all those chores done so you can spend some time in the woods!!

Heres the stats of todays journey to the range. Federals patterned the best, 1st try at 20 yds had 55 plus pellets in the head and neck. 2nd try with federals 68 pellets. 30 yds 32 pellets in head and neck. I am ready to let loose on these things. Did some scouting today and saw 6 deer and 6 turkeys 2 of which were very large toms. It was windy today so they were layin in the grass. I was able to get within 15 to 30 yards of them. It was a very nice day for a hike.
