No. Unfortunatley, Pat is really busy guiding right now and doesn't have time to add the scores. We just gotta be patient w/ him, he's a busy dude.

Sweet what do you ride? This is a pic of my dads bike. I am a custom painter by trade and this is what I did for him last summer. Custom mixed orange pearl with custom mixed lime green flames. Well I don't have the pics on this computer so I will post them this afternoon, but this is my 84 year old grandfathers car we did for him.

Good Luck. Hey Guys I have a question. I put a bird on the score post but does that mean thats the score that will be used? I have another bird I could score that would score considerably higher but I didn't know if my putting that score on there meant to use that one. Any ideas?

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Thanks for thecongrats.I have been in on 16 kills this season (added one today) andonly one gobbler has been under 20 lbs. We've had several 24's and a 25. I killed him while hunting alone and I don't have a digital camera so I have no pictures of him on the computer yet. I have a few pictures of opening week birds but I can't get them to load. If someone has time and wants to I can e-mail them and maybe you could resize them and post them for me? I'm computerignorant.

mobow 05-06-2006 11:45 AM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

Dev, you can email them to me @[email protected] I'll resize them and post them for you.

Well, I went out this morning, best morning yet. Heard quite a few different birds today for a switch, they just seemed to be in the right mood today. I had one working right off the roost, my Ole Yeller slate call had him going bonkers. I screwed up and overcalled because I was having so damn much fun listening to him. Anyway, he got within 50 yards and a hen intercepted him. Bummer.

Well, I kept hearing one gobble about every 10 minutes or so and he was in the same place every time, so I figured he was strutting by himself and we may be able to work him. I closed the distance to about 300 yards and he responded very well. I called him down the hill, across the gulley and he was circling behind us. I also got him to within 50 yards or so, but something spooked him. Must have been me, but I don't know what I did.

Went to the house for a quick snack and headed to a different area of the farm around 10. Walked up the hill and across the field where I stopped to do some cutting. I was immediately answered by a booming gobble less than 100 yards away and I still have NO idea why he didn't commit and come on in. Normally, if one gobbles that late in the day they are by themselves and lonely. This is the first one that didn't run me over. Oh well. It was fun. Back at it tomorrow.

edit: I can call birds, get them fired up and everything else, but I SUCK at calling them in. If any of ya'll got any advice for us wannabes......I'd love to hear it.

saltflat 05-06-2006 10:52 PM

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

I hear ya mo it almost happened to mr this mornin. I was hunting with a buddy on some private land and there was a good 9 to 10 gobblers within 300 yards of us all the way around. Well for some reason my buddy likes to calll constantly. I heard him call then stop for a few seconds then call again. He called like this for an hour an a half. Sure the birds were gobbling at us but they didn't come in. If I would have known the lay of the land I think I would positioned myself somewhere else on their property. OO well always next time.

Come on ultimag when you comin to missouri. Me and mo could use your help. We still got some time left. Hey mo since this is the last weekend what are you gonna try to do differently. I am going with my grandfather up to livingston county. 7500 acre conso land up there. I gotta good idea where birds are. the problem I have is they fly off the roost in the opposite direction I want them too. So I am gonna try to get us on each side of the roosted bird. One of us on the left side one of us on the right. Might work. Don't know if I am gonna try any decoys this weekend. The woods are so thick anyway that a turkey would be in you lap before he got close to seeing my dekes.

Yeah, it's aggravating, but don't worry about it buddy. No big deal. This is just plain ole fun!

saltflat, I'm not really gonna do much differently. I kind of let the birds dictate what I do on any given day anyway, so we'll just have to see what their mood is.

RE: Official Team ThunderStrut (10) thread.

ultimag, good advice. In fact, the first bird I was working that was intercepted by a hen, well, that's where the hen came from. I called her in and hoped she would hang around for a while. But when she started wandering his way, I threw rocks at her trying to spook her. No luck. She went right to him, game over!

Well I have been shut out so far .
I have been hunting with a muzzel loader this year

SO far I have touched a hen and had 2 toms go at it 15' behind me and had several other close calls , but no shots .
I did call in a 18 lb 8" bearded tom for a freind .

I still have till the 5/21 , but I have a sporting clays shoot , so the 5/20 is the last day for me [:'(]

saltflat i would love to hunt missouri sometime you should see my fuel bill for all the miles i drove for turkeys this year OUCH also that is a great tactic to use on roosted birds having 2 guys set up in 2 locations where you think them birds might go we employ that tactic at certain roost sites, we had these sites where the birds had 2 options but this year they logged where we called it the mother roost now the birds have allot more options off the roost just when you think you got em :(:(:(
