went scouting this morning.its my first time turkey hunting and i got some land in chesnee and i got in the woods around 6 25 and stayed until 8 o clock and didnt hear anything. No yelps, no clucks no gobblers. my friend said he saw 6 turkeys crossing over the field a week ago and other than that there arent really any signs for turkey being there. there are places in the leaves that are really big with chewed up acorns and dogwoods in them near the pond. but no tracks no poop and no freathers. im just stuck and dont know if they just arent making noise or if theyres none out there and im waistin my time. i would apprecieate any advice for scouting tips. I NEED HELP cause im so excited about hunting im just gettin frustrated. Thanks for the help.

is there a lot of water around the property...last year one of my leases got so much water all the fire lines sorrounding the property were knee deep in water and all the birds i patterned before the season stopped coming on my lease because they would not cross the water......all my signs disappeared and i didn't see a bird after watching them off and on in the weeks before the season....it's been dry this year so far so i hope this year will be better there....also is there a fence(bobwire, hog wire) arroung the property....any barrier will stop them from egtting on your l;and.
