I'vehad a Gerber for over ten years, and I use it a lot, but I've never liked it. Half the time it won't ratchet, the cutting blade is, IMHO, too thin, and sometimes there's not enough power (again, mostly because I think its too thin) to "crank down" and prune off athicker branch. Sometimes the thin cutting blade wants to twist and you can't get a good cut, too.

I'd never heard of a Florian until I read this topic/post, but I may have to look into replacing that Orange and Black Gerber with one of those.

I carry a saw, too, but I think I use it less than once a year, on average, so if I was looking in my pocketbook, I'd start with just a ratchet pruner.

I have a small Gerber fold out hand saw. It is super sharp and cuts very quick. I havn't tried hand pruners but I don't think I am willing to switch from my saw and it is useless to carry both when my saw will handle more than pruners will. Cheap ones don't work good, it has to be a gerber.
