Alone and scared...

You'll be fine. And to be honest, alot of times, you'll learn more when left on your own than you will with someone showing you everything step by step. It's kind of like sink or swim, but learning from your own mistakes and experiences is definately a great way to learn.

I started out the same way, close to er...20- 25 years ago,
I had noone to hunt with either.
It made it kinda rough, I had to figure it allout on my own.
But, OHHH, the satisfaction of killin your first turkeyall by yourself.
Besides that you'll learn somelessons that can't be learned any other way.

If you're fine with friction calls, you'll probably be okay. I always have a mouth call just in case i need to call when he's in close, but truthfully I never had to use it. Once he commits to the friction call, he's either gonna come in all the way or something else is gonna botch things up. Just make sure you don't call too much, I think thats my problem in having alot of birds hang up.

If you can use a slate call you will definately be fine!! Same for a box call. A diaphragm is good to learn to use because you dont have to move much to use it. I do use both but my main call is a slate call. Just keep your hands hidden when calling. Good luck and have fun!!!

i suck using a mouth call so i have to use friction calls....it's about practicing and having confidence in your call, no matter what kind of call it is. just remember, learn something from every hunt and if you're like me you'll screw up more often than not. that's hunting.
Finally, after many years of calling, I have found my perfect series of mouth calls. The Primos double stacked frame series. Raspy, loud, and I can do things with them I have not been able to do with other callls.
I can remember my first turkey hunt on my own...shot a jake right at opening light, and before the end of the day had 8 more longbeards come in and spooked...that is when I learned the power of setting up on something other than a sapling.
My advice...setup wise, call well, and DONT MOVE!
