Kind of a vague question isn't it? Sure, there is more tedious ways to clean a turkey, and simpler ways to go about it. When I am turkey hunting, 95% of the time I breast them out. The legs may have some meat on them, and if they are good enough, I use them as a soup stock, or to add flavor for gravy. I have deep fried just the breast and the whole turkey, but I enjoy breasting the turkey out for around here, for that is where the majority of the meat is. If you are planning to just trophy hunt, obviously you would take the turkey right away to the taxidermist. But in my opinion, I kill what I eat, and take minimal amount of trophies.

i agree with just breasting it our for regular cooking. just cut down the breast bone then fillet it like a fish. if youw ant to try deep frying the whole turkey (mmmm good) then just skin and gut the whole thing.

as long as you fillet it within a few hours of kill there is really no need to gut them.

in the south we clean and eat the whole bird.if you want to deep fry, skin, cleanout and cook.

I clean the bird to fry the breast and use the rest for dressing.

I hang the bird and skin it,lay on back.cut down the breast bone on each side and remove the breast.mash the legs vbown untill they pop.remove the leg and thigh.cut the wings off, pull the ribcage from the back.cut the back into two parts.cut the leg and thigh into two parts.

we slice and fry the breast.the rest we put into the crockpot with an onion and carrot.cook all night.the meat will fall off the bones.strain the bones out and save the meat and juice.
chopp the meat to a coarse cut.
cook you two cups of rice,(using 3 cups of the juice you saved)use the rice to make dressing.

rice dressing and fried breast, homemade biscuts and gravey with crannberry sascue.nothing better.

I also filet the breast out and cut them in strips to fry. I debone the legs and thighs and boil the meat. I then chop or mince the meat and make barbeque sandwiches. They are very good and the meat boiled like this is tender. You can use any barbeque sauce or make your own. I love fried turkey strips. Don't forget the toney's.

As far as just cleaning them for eating, I just cut the breast out.
