Sometimes turkeys move from area to area depending on food sources, and cover.Closer to spring hens prefer semi-open places to make thier nest.Thick enough to hide their nest, but open enough to see predators. If the hens are leaving your property the gobblers will go with them. The best thing I can tell you to do is make them want to come to your place in the spring. You can do this by planting chufa, and foodplots.Mowing fields, and edges of roads,so that when new growth comes up they can move through it easily with their poults, while catching bugs. The 2 biggest things you can do are to scatter corn down the roads(I'm not saying to hunt over it,but that is one thing they love to eat)The other is to do prescribed burns.Turkeys simply LOVE burns. It offers all kinds of new grass growth, and bugs, also it is more open, and helps them feel comfortable feeding in there.I can't express enough how much they like burns.Doing some of these thing will help keep turkeys on your land. Now is the time to burn, and scatter corn, before they leave their winter groups. That will draw them now,and allow hens time to pick out a nesting place.ALso try not to constantlydrive up and down roads, spooking the birds.Hope I helped.
