I was curious, has anybody ever used a tree stand to hunt turkey?
Set up just off of a field with decoys set up in it?
I'm a beginner, don't be too hard on me if this is a stupid idea.

I'll take good luck over skill any day!

turkey hunting 95% of the time you need to be mobile and having a stand you wont be able to move half as fast as you need too... you can pattern turkeys down perfect and they still might not come near you even if they walked by that tree for a month straight...and calling from a tree i duno how that would work...turkeys can hear GREAT and they might look up and see no hen and leave...way before they are in range...might not hurt to try? may cost you a day or 2 afield but if u want try it...i never did and dont think i will...

I have hunted turkeys from treestands and still do from time to time and have been very succesfull, You can see the turkeys comming in and that gives bow hunters like my self ample time to draw before they get too close to you. I have even used a shot gun out of a tower satnd, works sweet but hold onto the gun while shooting difficult angles. Good Luck.

I have used treestands for turkeys but I wasnot only hunting turkeys. I was hunting deer with the bow also. Never been successful by using a tree. I don't think I would use a treestand if I was just hunting turkeys. I would want to move if the the turkeys were not in the area so I don't think a treestand would fit my type of hunting.
I do know a couple of hunters that hunt spring turkeys from trees and have been successful. I personally would not or like that method but it has worked for them.
