I, and a bunch of others on here had that same problem a couple of years ago. Man there were so many when I opened the security box, it literally looked like something out of a horror movie. I really don't know what to do to prevent them in the first place, as any repellent you put in there would have a scent. What I did afterwards was to put the cam in a trash bag with a wash rag soaked in bug killer. It definately got rid of them.

Well - I do know one has to be careful if they spray as some propellants used and some insecticides are platicizers.

So I chose a bit of insecticidal dust.

I just had 1 of mine infested with them 2 weeks ago. I blew them all out and just strapped it to another tree. No problems since. Maybe the types of wood attract and repel them????

Cams should seal shut and not let that happen in the first place.
If it doesn't then send it back.

I made the mistake a couple years ago of not getting my bottom door all the way closed on my Scoutguard and it got infested. I blew it out with an air compressor and sprayed a paper towel down with Raid and stuck it in a ziplock for a couple days. Sprayed out all the dead ants with a compressor again and waited a couple days to air and dry out.
Has worked 2yrs since with no problems.

Now I use a twist tie to hold the door in place.

My Cudde Captures and Reconyx seal great so I don't have to mess with those.

I've never had this problem either, but if it doesn't seal correctly maybe some quick electrical tape when you shut it up and around the corners and sides? Just a quick fix maybe? haha good luck!

Get you some permethrin spray. No smell and will kill all insects after a few seconds and last for weeks. I make my own from concentrate and spray all over my hunting clothes, boots, hat, gloves, blind and never have any issues with any of these little buggers to include ticks, no-seeums, mosquitoes (you can spray yourself without harm).

I also spray my dogs with it to keep ticks, fleas, and flys off of them during the summer months. Once every three weeks.
