Default Moultrie Cameras

I have a Moultrie camera which uses 6 D size batteries. I would like to rig up for use with an SLA battery for longer battery life. Have done this with Cudde back cameras but they only use 4 D size. Anyone ever done this with Moultrie cameras.
Thanks,
Jed

Thanks fo rthe reply. Im not sure of the model #. I think it was $ 100.00. It went thru 6 Ds in about 2 1/2 weeks. At the same time my Cudde using a 6v SLA still showed full battery.

sounds like this one. i have this one also. the D cell batteries don't last but 3 weeks or so on mine. i have it set over bait and it takes a couple thousand pics per week

the D40 has an external port for an auxilary power source.
you could use a rechargeable or other battery. i'm not sure if moultrie sells one for it yet ? could possibly use a solar charger and rechargable D- cells . hope this helps !

You must have the D40, I have that same one. I am going thru 6 D cell batteries in less than 2 weeks, and less than 400 pics in that amount of time. I talked to a guy at the deer classic who sells Moultries, but not the D40, and he told me that there must be something wrong with it. He told me to contact Moultrie, and that they would probably replace it for me.

I believe you have a D40.
Moultrie makes a solarpanel/battery plug in for this camera, around 79.99.
But if you want to do a 12v external, like a few of us have, here is a link for it. http://www.chasingame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6379

I have the I40 and it to seems to be hard on batteries. Contacted a Moultrie rep and they said they have not had any problems with anything draining the batteries. Maybe I got a bad set. He suggested getting 6 new ones and try that. I only had about 50 pics and the battery was showing 53% strenghth. Not good! I will try again and see what happens. Anyone else having similar problems?

Stealth makes a 12 rechargable kit that I used on my wildview, and I bought it at Gander Mountain for 39.00....Works great, just check to make sure the plug will fit your camera.
