How do you tell the redesigned cameras from last years model.

You would have to look at the model number on the display of the cuddeback. You would have to go through all the camera settings and at the end it displays the model number.

an easy way to tell is the package it came in, the top of the last year models are square, this years packaging is rounded.

I believe the new ones have a different type of battery inclosure.
