Hello,
I purchased a Wildview extreme III digital cam about a month ago from Menards. It worked great for me the first 3 weeks or so. It was very simple to use, just simply plug the USB cable into the camera and into the PC and I could view or download the pics.
I had it out on a trail last week for about 3 days. I grabbed the camera (it had 13 pictures on it), took it home and plugged it in.. nothing happens. I tried it on both of our laptops and our desktop pc and none worked. I have used the camera on all 3 pc's before with no problem.
When I plug the cable into the PC the hard drives spin for a bit and then nothing. From what I can tell, the error is that Windows cannot recognize the device or the device is not started.
I called Wildview support and they made me install the driver from the CD included (even though it's for Windows 98 and I'm running XP).. no luck. They believe there is something wrong with the camera.
I would REALLY like to get those pics off this camera and not have to return it. I'm wondering if it's possible that low batteries might be the issue??? The camera was not dropped or any such thing between when it worked and when it didn't. If I remove the batteries I lose the pictures, but I can get a 12V ac adapter to plug into it and try that.
Anyone have any similar problems or any ideas? Thanks.
