I've been shooting alot with my new longbow over that past week and I am having a blast. I'm definitely getting better but still have some issues to work out.....
I've been trying to incorporate Gap shooting or Howard Hill's split vision method. However, I have a hard time while at full draw actually guaging where my arrow is in relation to the target. It seems easier for me to extend the arm, eyeball down the shaft and guess the correct gap, then draw and release. Is this a poor method?
You know, I just can't seem to see my arrow point all that well at full draw...... Am I not leaning in enough?
I got sick of just hammering away at a target face, so I bought some Judo's and I've been loving that. Is shooting Judo a good way to practice and develop form, or should I stick with purely target shooting until I get my form, etc down pat?
Thanks for the responses. I will be out for the next few days, so I will check back in on Monday.

I knew a fellow that could shoot very accurately like that, but I don't know how well it works in general--he's the only one I've ever seen do it.
Judo's won't do much for form, but roving will help you learn to gauge distance. Just be sure you don't let your form suffer when you are doing it.

That's exactly how I started out shooting.Over time the gap setting will become subconscious or instinctive. You are basically setting your gap and windage before you shoot.Just stay close and work on your form.Until your form gets solid and repeatable it's hard to be consistent at longer ranges.

Byron Ferguson describes Hill's split vision from a slightly different perspective that made a little more sense to me when I read his book "becoming the arrow". Maybe it will help you as well. As you develope this form of shooting it eventually becomes a fluid motion of draw, anchor and release.Good Luck
