I was given a Brian Pridgeon longbow, 57#@28" 67" length. I want to replace the string on the bow but am unsure what length string to get. I was told to get a string about 3" shorter than the bow, but the string on the bow, appears to be original, is about 61". What length string do I need to buy? Where can I find good flemish twist strings made of Dacron?

I believe it's 2" shorter than the bow, or you can give the string maker the AMO length and they should know how long to make the string. I reckon there are a few places on the net you could get flemish twist dacron strings, just do a search for them. Chad (LBR) makes them. I think he's off hunting moose right now, but no doubt he could give you a run down when he shows up again.
God bless,

Steven, I'll bet you a dollar that string is too short--most longbows get a string that is 2-3" (usually 3') shorter than the AMO. What is the brace height with that string? The only bow I have ever seen that got a string 6" shorter than the AMO was an old Herters recurve. Not saying that it isn't possible, but not likely.
Irish, thanks for the reccomendation--I leave tomorrow evening for my moose trip--Yaaaaaaaa-hooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Any chance you're still around?! Bryan Pridgeon is my dad. I'm trying to find some of his bows if I can.
