I saw one on Cabelas website for around $180.00 I believe. The take downs are cheaper than the other bows? I would think it would be the other way around. Anyone have any experience with the cheaper Martin recurves? Since getting back in to traditional archery I would like to have a new bow.

Low end takedowns are cheaper because they're easier to make. Maybe 'less time consuming' is more accurate than saying 'easier'. Anyway, I haven't seen anything from Martin's shop that I wouldn't shoot. Even the cheapie Rebel 1-piece bows I've handled have been decent quality.
Edit: Just went to Cabela's site to look at the bows... The only bow I saw in the $180 range was the AIM Predator. I've handled one and it's quality is equal to the cheap price. I'm sure it'd shoot an arrow where you want it to go but... [:'(]
For not much more you can order a custom made Falcon from ChekMate. It'd be a 1-piece, but it'd be a bow you wouldn't be embarrassed to take to a 3D shoot. ChekMate's prices on their takedowns are pretty sweet too.

i bought a martin x-200. supposedly a decent bow, im a newb so I can't evaluate it the way others here can, but i have had no problems. And I am not very bright when it comes to things like this. both the bow and i have survived, wihtout twists in either of us.
I think though, as i get into this i would rather shoot a longbow. Gonna wait and see how well i do with traditional archery, but if things go as they have been I will likely try to get a nicer, probably check-mate, longbow. i understand the crusader is a good one.
But i have had an incredible amount of fun with my martin recurve, and if i decide to go to shoots i won't be embarrassed about whatever bow i used. Though i might be embarrased about how i shoot.
